Happy New Year!
As much as I tried not falling sick, I failed. Thus, here I am with fever, runny nose and feeling cold no matter what I do. The worst part is that because of this flu, I am missing one of the most amazing parties of the year. Yes, I am talking about the New Year’s party! I was supposed to attend a party which could not only be a blast, but it could propel me to the next step of my career.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to be there. For the past two days I have been telling myself I would get better. I did everything I could to get rid of this flu. I took pills, drank tons of cups of tea with lemon and honey. I even ate raw onion, garlic and ginger. Nothing changed!
I did consider attending the party despite the fact that I was not well. But I knew I would not be able to leave the house for a few more days. Besides the fact that I could barely stand and I felt like crap, no one would want to be next to me or talk to me. Who could blame them? When you are well and on a party mode, the last thing you want is to fall sick.
Therefore, I kissed goodbye my chance of getting promoted within the following year. With the little strength I had left I send a few text messages to the other managers wishing them a Happy New Year.
Then I returned to bed and crashed for another two hours. Luckily I fell asleep and my breathing improved. I would have probably slept until morning if my brother would not have called me. The poor guy had a car accident and he was looking for an emergency Dentist Boisbriand. He wanted to know if I could reach my dentist and ask him to do an exception for him.
Although I doubted that any dental clinic was open at that hour, I advised him to make a Google search on his smart phone and see which one of the emergency dental clinics was open. I asked him if he was in pain or if he was bleeding. I recommended him to go the hospital. I thought that they would give him at least a prescription for the pain and stop the bleeding somehow. That was all I could do for him.
As soon as I hang up the phone, I dragged myself to the kitchen and made myself another cup of tea. Then I went back to bed. While I was lying in bed, I suddenly started to laugh. Apparently both of us were skipping the New Year’s party.
